Description:

Each group of two will get two topics that are related to each other. Every individual will focus on one topic. With their physics concept you would then find a super hero/ villain that covers that concept. We also needed to include a presentation using your digital portfolio as a visual to cover the requirements which include; defining your concept, explanation of your super hero, description of the relation of your partner's hero/ villain to yours, and a secret identity.

Objective;

To get a better understanding about what we are going to learn this year. To also see what were capable of doing.

Definition of Concept:

Angular velocity: The rate at which the angle changes though out a circle over the amount of time.

Units: Rotations per minute (Rpm) or radians per seconds

Tangential velocity: When an object moving in a circular motion is released it will go in a straight line at a certain speed.

Units: meters per seconds (mps) and feet per second (fps)

Teamwork:

There are three ways the Speed Team fight. In the first one Daniel would spin around in a circular motion enough times to get up to a certain speed. The spinning resembles angular velocity because it shows how fast the angle at which he’s facing over time. When that happens Danielle would run towards him and then he would push her to the direction she wanted to go. Since Danielle would be going at fast rate she would be able to knock down enemies and cover distance in a short amount of time. The rate at which Danielle is traveling represents the tangential velocity.

The second way is when they are both holding onto each other. Daniel starts to spin and when his velocity reaches at least 240rpm then Danielle pushes off the ground and they both go straight. The point at which Danielle decides to push of the ground, which ever direction Daniel was facing, they would go.

The third way is a combination of both the first and the second. Daniel holds on to Danielle’s arms and he spins in a circular motion. The distance from his pivot point to the end of Danielle’s legs would be known as the radius. At an exact speed and time, Daniel then releases Danielle. Therefore, the rate she’s moving is the tangential velocity.

Possible Weaknesses for Danielle:

During battle Danielle is either off the ground or running rapidly on ground. While she is in the air some possible weaknesses could be the wind direction blowing in the opposite way, the amount of gravity on the planet. Although those are some ways to stop her, she has one major weakness. Danielle has to constantly drink a lot of water or else her legs will lose its power and start cramping.

Secret identity:

Danielle:

When Danielle is not fighting crime or the evil Climat-tron she is just an everyday 21 year old girl, living in the fast city of Hollywood with one room mate Sara, who is also attending Columbia collage. Known to her friends as Dani Hill, she enjoys running, dancing, and traveling. She has is finishing her first four years of college with hope in becoming a writer/photographer for a popular gossip magazine, “Spot.” As of now she is interning at Spot studios and if she keeps up the good work she will hopefully get a job. With her ability to maneuver quickly, she is able to scan the area for famous celebrities/icons catch a picture and a word from them.

Daniel:

Daniel is a Superhero who has super speed. He spins around in circle really fast while holding his ally and then let’s go and that shows the tangential velocity the Superhero uses. Daniel’s secret identity is that he is a college student and he is the key player on his team playing wide receiver, so with super speed you can tell he’s really good. However, he can’t run too fast because that can expose his secret identity. He’s a football star by day and superhero by night; he’s 1 of the 2 members of the Speed Team.

Partner History:

They are together because their powers both depend on each other and without one another their powers are limited Angular velocity and tangential velocity are both intertwined, and in this super hero scenario, Daniel controls angular velocity and Danielle is represented as tangential velocity. Angular velocity has to happen before tangential velocity can occur. Therefore Danielle mainly relies on Daniel to help her out.

Even though they have had their differences, they have grown up with each other, and learned to stay as a family. They are the only ones that survived the war, and their bonds are too strong to keep them from helping each other out. Also, after Danielle rescued Daniel they both decided that they would be a team in defeating Climat-tron.

History of the Speed Team:

The Speed Team consists of two super heroes named Daniel and Danielle. They are twins with special powers and they rely on each other dearly. Their parents died two years ago on their birthday while fighting Novak War on their home planet. The war affected the rest of their lives. Before their parents’ Andrew and Brooke went to fight, they told Daniel and Danielle to flee to Earth, where they would be safe and protected from Climat-tron. As soon as they found out their parents did not survive the battle, immediately they left for Earth living a secret life as a “normal human being”. While on Earth, Daniel and Danielle got into an argument into deciding what to do about Climat-tron, and the rest of the planet. Daniel wanted to go back and help the people on Novak, but Danielle wanted to stay loyal to her parents and stay on Earth. Within a week they were separated and no longer communicating.

For one year they were safe on Earth, but the evil Climat-tron then located Daniel because he was assigned to destroy the whole family, and everything that was against him. Soon enough Danielle received a message from an old ally that her brother had been captured. Danielle must unite with her brother again to face off Climat-tron, and to finish what their parents had begun. After Danielle left to look for her brother she was able to sneak in and escape with out anyone noticing. Traveling back to Earth they created a plan to destroy Climat-tron once and for all. Carefully holding on to each other Daniel and Danielle work together because without each other their lives would be miserable and they would be unable to use activate their unique powers.

Reflection:

With the Mutants Reveled project being the first project of my 9th grade year, I thought did a good job on being productive everyday. We didn't waste time, and we used our free time at home to get ahead of the project. During class, my partner Erick Bighames and I worked together to think of new ideas for our super hero. We also helped each other out when we didn't understand the physics concept, and worked together to write the definition. It was easy to communicate with him during class and we both were able to split up the work depending on our strengths. While I did all the informational writing, Erick worked on drawing our super team, The Speed Team.

I would have liked it better if Erick could have done some of the writing because I spent a lot of time thinking of different ideas while over the weekend. Although Erick also spent a lot of time working on the drawing as well. Next time I think it would be better if we each did a little of everything. Towards the end of the project it was harder for us to get all of our work in one page because we each had separate parts.

I learned that I can be more creative then I thought. When I was writing the character's history I was able to have fun with it and create an interesting storyline that ties with the physic concept. I also learned that Erick and I work well during projects and during math class. Before this project I knew that I liked physics, but after this project I got even more interested because of all the new topics that I learned.
